‘New Girl’, ‘Street Fighter’ star Peter Navy Tuiasosopo dies at 61

Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, an American actor known for appearing in beloved projects like New Girl, Fast & The Furious, Street Fighter and more has passed away at the age of 61.

His son, Manoah Peter Tuiasosopo announced the news on Facebook, writing, “With a heavy heart, my family and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Our father Peter N. Tuiasosopo passed away this morning at 3:16 am.”

Although the cause of his death was not revealed on Facebook, he later told TMZ that he passed away in Phoenix, Arizona from heart complications.

“My dad lived an amazing life and in no way does his impact stop here,” he added, “His strength, love, compassion, and kindness will forever be felt.”

Tuiasosopo first started his acting career back in 1991 with the role, Manumana in Necessary Roughness.

He then made his way to television with the series Danger Theatre in which he played the character of detective, Al Hamoki. He went on to play ex-sumo wrestler and custodian Yoshi Nakamura in the Disney show Kickin’ It.

He then made guest appearances on shows like NCIS, Bang Mob City, Black-ish, Ray Donovan, Mayans M.C. and New Girl.
