Adam Sandler recently unveiled the real reason behind Eminem’s cameo in his latest film, Happy Gilmore 2.

During The Dan Patrick Show, the 58-year-old actor recalled the awkwardness he faced when approaching the rapper.

“Everybody kept saying, ‘Man, Eminem would be so funny in this part.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want to ruin this guy’s time,” Sandler said.

However, he was eventually convinced by the cast and crew to give his longtime friend, Marshall (Eminem’s real name), a call.

The lead of the film remembered the conversation he had with Slim Shady, “‘Dude, I know it’s a pain in the a**, but it’s pretty funny. You mind shooting out to us for a day?”

To his surprise, the 52-year-old musical legend said yes without hesitation, even though he was busy in Detroit working on his records.

Notably, the duo’s friendship dates back to 1999, when they met at the afterparty of Saturday Night Live. Sandler admitted the Mockingbird hitmaker referred to him as Bobby Boucher, the character from his film, The Waterboy.

“He goes ‘, Bobby Boucher! I go, ‘Oh yes, that’s what’s up, Marshall.’ And then we became friendly after that,” he recalled.

On the professional front, Happy Gilmore 2 is the sequel to the 1996 comedy film of the same name, which includes A-list cameos from Ben Stiller, Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, Post Malone, and Eminem.

The Houdini singer plays Donald Floyd Jr, the son of Donald, portrayed by the late Joe Flaherty. He mocks Sandler’s character on the golf course, calling him “jack***” mid-swing.

For the unversed, Eminem is currently promoting his documentary, STANS, which was released on August 7, 2025.
