Android is fixing some major bugs.

A significant component of Android Auto is the voice command integration, which enables users to utilise their apps without having to look at the screen.

Of course, drivers should always keep their eyes on the road, so by using this input technique, they may safely and conveniently maintain control over the music playing, the running navigation programme, or their phone calls.

However, voice commands on Android Auto have been malfunctioning on a good number of smartphones since at least January. Android Auto responded to every customer request for Google Assistant to take action—such as start a call—by telling them to "enable personal results in my settings."

Since then, the enigmatic error message has persisted, and users have tried numerous remedies, including complete resets of the phone and the head unit. Even though a few fixes occasionally worked, the majority of users couldn't utilise voice commands on Android Auto.

Things have now returned to normal with a recent update, according to Google, which also confirmed that "the Assistant team has applied a fix."

How to update ‘Android Auto’

Since Google Assistant and speech integration in cars are powered by this app, the upgrade is not included in Android Auto but rather in the Google app.

In order to get this significant change, users must update the Google app to the most recent version. The search engine behemoth did not offer any other details on the Google app update that was meant to fix the issue, but if you install the more recent version, you should be good to go.

Given that the discussion thread was sealed by Google's community specialists and is now off-limits to new comments, it is unclear if the patch fixes the bug for all users.

The Google app's most recent stable version is 14.24.9, however, any updates released in June should fix the issue. The bug-fixing update ought to be downloaded and installed on your Android device if you've already made automatic updates available. If not, you can visit the Google Play Store and look for updates to Google apps.

The Google app can also be updated manually by downloading the APK installer. Since Android is set up by default to only enable the installation of programmes from the Google Play Store, the method includes granting the installer specific rights.

Additionally, if you're comfortable using this method, it's the quickest way to download the most recent versions of both Google app and Android Auto.
