Director Andy Muschietti expresses desire for Ezra Miller to continue in the title role if there are future installments of The Flash.

Despite the actor's controversial past, Muschietti is supportive of Miller's potential involvement in a sequel.

The 30-year-old actor has faced significant scrutiny due to arrests related to disorderly conduct and assault charges in 2022.

Nonetheless, Muschietti remains open to Miller reprising their role as Barry Allen, emphasizing their contribution to the film.

“I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did," the filmmaker praised Miller's performance.

"The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it.

And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them.”

Barbara Muschietti, producer of The Flash, commends Ezra Miller for their wholehearted dedication to the role, describing their performance as "supreme" in terms of physical, creative, and emotional commitment.

Miller, who prefers they/them pronouns, faced public scrutiny for a series of concerning incidents, including social media outbursts, arrests, and legal proceedings.

In August, Miller issued an apology and revealed their intention to seek treatment for complex mental health issues, as stated in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

He apologized to those who were alarmed or distressed by their previous actions.

The actor acknowledged their commitment to undergoing the required personal growth and transformation to reach a healthy, safe, and productive phase in their life.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 16th, providing fans with the opportunity to witness Miller's portrayal of the iconic superhero.
