John Cleese promises a fresh take on 'Fawlty Towers' with new series.

John Cleese, the renowned writer of Fawlty Towers, has expressed that the upcoming reboot of the series will undergo a significant transformation, setting it apart from the original.

During an interview with GB News, the 83-year-old Monty Python star disclosed that the new rendition will feature a substantial number of "open-air" scenes, a departure from the enclosed setting of the original series.

The iconic sitcom, co-written by Cleese and Connie Booth, initially aired on BBC Two in two series, captivating audiences in 1975 and 1979.

Beloved sitcom, known for its comedic portrayal of the eccentric hotelier Basil Fawlty and his misadventures in running a hotel, is set to make a comeback.

John Cleese, who played the iconic character, will join forces with his daughter Camilla Cleese to bring the series back to life.

Basil will team up with a newfound daughter to run a boutique hotel, adding an exciting dynamic to the series.

Joining the project as executive producers are actor Rob Reiner, his wife and actress Michele Reiner, along with director and producer Matthew George and Derrick Rossi.

John said: "It is going to be hugely different.

My daughter and I have been working on it for about a week, and all we know is it certainly won't be set in the UK, it will probably be set somewhere in the sun."

The new series will break new ground by featuring a multicultural cast if set in the Caribbean, adding an intriguing layer of diversity to the show.

"There's no attempt to copy it, you'll see something completely different.

I think it will probably be quite funny. Probably funnier than some of the stuff out there," said John.
