James Corden spills on dream guest in final Carpool Karaoke with Adele
Adele gets teary as the show comes to an end when James Corden announced his departure, with CBS making desperate attempts to keep him on
James Corden, the beloved host of The Late Late Show, recently hosted an interview with Grammy Award-winning artist Adele and dished on all things showbiz.
Adele, who holds the title for the most-watched Carpool Karaoke clip of all time, pitched the idea of surprising James with a final ride to work.
With over 260 million views, her 2016 appearance on the show remains one of the most-watched clips of all time for any talk show.
Corden was taken aback by the idea and had no idea it was coming.
"That was a shock to me, I didn’t know about that," he told Variety Magazine.
"I thought our last carpool was with Diddy. He was someone we tried to get for a while. And then this surprise with Adele happened!"
"The gesture of Adele surprising me and coming up with the idea to drive me to work is truly remarkable," James shared with Variety .
"It’s even more special because you’re witnessing two friends who moved to Los Angeles around the same time, with one of them now heading back home and the other one staying behind.
"That in itself is an emotional moment, and the fact that one of them happens to be the biggest singer in the world just adds to it."
The special hour-long episode will air on Thursday night, featuring a unique Carpool Karaoke with the singer, along with a previously announced sketch with Tom Cruise.
The episode will be the last of the show's run, and executive producer Rob Crabbe promises it will be a fitting sendoff.
He praised the relationship between James and Adele, saying it will be on full display in the special.
Crabbe added that the segment is incredibly beautiful and moving, and that viewers can expect to get a little misty-eyed while watching it.
The final installment will also feature appearances from Will Ferrell and Harry Styles.
However, despite rumors of a One Direction reunion, executive producer Ben Winston clarified that it was never part of the plan.
Winston said the production has many amazing things planned for the finale, and they didn't want to risk disappointing fans with false rumors.
As the final day of shooting approaches, James Corden anticipates a bittersweet experience.
"It's going to be an emotional day," he admitted.
"I need to keep it together and avoid becoming a meme."
