James Gunn reveals actors who want to star as ‘Batman’

DC Studios co-head James Gunn’s upcoming Batman movie has caught the attention of several major Hollywood stars eager to take on the iconic role.

In a recent interview with IGN, the Superman director revealed that a surprising number of A-listers are vying to portray the Caped Crusader in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Gunn also noted that the film will take certain creative liberties with Bruce Wayne’s well-known origin story, stressing that the plot is still “in flux.”

“Some things have changed,” Gunn explained. “Plenty of things are in flux about his parentage and all that stuff, so I wouldn’t take any of it as final. But I can’t tell you the amount of big actors that have told me they want to be Batman.”

He went on to joke that it’s actually harder to find actors who don’t want the part. “He’s the one character everyone wants to play. That’s the truth,” Gunn added.

Back in 2023, Variety reported that The Flash director Andy Muschietti had signed on to helm Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Based on Grant Morrison’s celebrated comic run, the film will explore Bruce Wayne’s dynamic with his biological son, Damian, who takes on the mantle of Robin.
