House of Guinness has left a Guinness family member in righteous fury over the latest Netflix series.

On September 25, the biographical drama about the four children of Benjamin Guinness aired on Netflix to much critical acclaim.

Sir Benjamin’s great-great-great-granddaughter, Molly Guinness, admitted the series depicted the characters as “straight from a bingo card of modern cliches about rich people.”

The 38-year-old radio producer confessed she was hooting with laughter when she first watched the show. She wrote her opinion in The Times, saying, “The more I watched, the more indignant I became.”

She added that the depiction of Sir Benjamin as an ‘overbearing and callous’ father was wrong, as in reality he was ‘very loving.’

Directed by Steven Knight, House of Guinness is a game of succession after the death of the patriarch. The cast members include Louis Partridge, Jack Gleeson, Anthony Boyle, and James Norton, among others.

The series consists of eight hour-long episodes, which were shot in Dublin and New York, utilising repurposed tobacco and wine warehouses.

According to a review by Variety, the show doesn’t accurately depict the life of the Guinnesses but does show Ireland's history extensively.

Who does Louis Partridge play in ‘House of Guinness’?

Louis Partridge portrays the youngest son of Sir Benjamin, Edward Guinness, who has his own ideas about the brewery after the passing of his father.
