Star Wars: ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ release date and cast revealed

The Mandalorian and Grogu’s studio, Lucasfilm, revealed release date, cast, and plot details just days after dropping the trailer.

On September 24, the Star Wars' film will follow after the events of the third season of The Mandalorian, which marks the first time the franchise’s TV series made it to the big screens.

According to ScreenRant, the movie will be released on May 22, 2026, which will come seven years after Solo: A Star Wars Story was released in the spring.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the returning cast includes Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, Steve Blum, and Jeremy Allen White.

Notably, The Mandalorian and Grogu will follow Din Djarin, portrayed by Pascal, and Grogu’s adventure as they pursue the Imperial Remnant on the New Republic’s behalf.

Previously, speaking at a Star Wars convention in Japan, The Materialists' lead admitted that the film is “one of the greatest adventure movies that has ever been made.”

However, the trailer has divided fans, who pointed out that it looks like a ‘Ford Cargo’ van from the Star Wars universe. One netizen wrote, “Should’ve ended with season 2. Everything past that finale feels like the search for more money.”

Another follower penned, “It's peak Disney flop and another sign they have no idea what they are doing.”

As of now, further details about the plot are being kept under wraps as the feature is currently in post-production.

Do I have to watch ‘The Mandalorian’ before watching the movie?

Yes, it’s highly recommended to watch the series as The Mandalorian and Grogu is the direct continuation after the events of season 3.
