Baby Yoda returns in ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ trailer

Brace yourself, Star Wars fans! The Mandalorian and Grogu’s first trailer is out, with the film releasing next summer by Disney.

The movie is a long-awaited spinoff of the hit Disney+ show The Mandalorian, marking the first Star Wars film since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

The film stars Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian, a bounty hunter, and his ward Grogu (aka Baby Yoda). Other cast members include Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt.

The new film was created after the delay of The Mandalorian’s fourth season caused by the Hollywood strikes of 2023. During that period, the franchise’s strategy was reassessed, with a film taking priority over a fourth season.

Jon Favreau, known for Iron Man, Elf, and Chef, who also helmed the series on the small screen, directs the movie for the silver screen. This marks Favreau’s first film as a director since 2019’s The Lion King.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is slated for release in May 2026, arriving in a summer lineup that also includes Supergirl, Toy Story 5, Scary Movie 6, Minions 3, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
