American actor Marvin Jones III has been tapped to take on the role of mob boss Tombstone in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The movie was recently put on hold for a week after star Tom Holland suffered a concussion during a stunt on set.
However, producers continued the casting process, according to Deadline, with Jones stepping into the role of the Marvel Comics supervillain.
The DC Extended Universe alum joins the live-action Spider-Man franchise after previously voicing Tombstone in Sony’s Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its forthcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Meanwhile, Sony representatives declined to comment, while Marvel reps were not immediately available.
Tombstone, also known as Lonnie Lincoln, is one of New York’s most ruthless crime lords and a longtime nemesis of Spider-Man.
Introduced in Web of Spider-Man #36 (March 1988) by writer Gerry Conway and artist Alex Saviuk, the hulking African-American albino villain is infamous for his razor-sharp teeth and nearly indestructible skin.
Yes, Tombstone has proven to be physically stronger than Spider-Man on several occasions. In fact, in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man (1976), Spidey himself endured the sheer force of Tombstone’s punches, which nearly beat him within an inch of his life.
