In the wake of Tom Holland’s concussion, Sony/Marvel Studios’ new movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, paused production for a week.
On Friday, September 19, the MCU star suffered a mild concussion while filming on the set of a new instalment of Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise.
Due to the injury, Holland couldn’t film anymore, so production has been paused and postponed for a week while the actor recovers, as per Deadline. Filming will resume on Monday.
After Holland sustained a mild head injury, he was rushed to the hospital for examination but was not admitted, according to reports.
Holland’s concussion occurred after a stunt went wrong on the Pinewood Studios set of the film, while none of the other crew members or cast were injured during the stunt.
Deadline confirmed that the accident did not happen on the Glasgow, Scotland set, as the Brand New Day production has mainly been based at Pinewood, outside London, throughout September.
Fortunately, the movie’s production halt will not impact its theatrical release date of July 31, 2026.
Tom Holland has headlined three MCU Spider-Man films so far—Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021). A fourth instalment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is slated to hit theatres in 2026.
