James Gunn teases epic storylines for Batman’s next cinematic journey
James Gunn has sent fans into a frenzy with a sneak peek of The Brave and the Bold, ramping up excitement across the DC Universe.
The 59-year-old filmmaker, known for his work on The Suicide Squad and Superman, revealed during the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast that progress on the upcoming Batman blockbuster is going well.
“I think we have a really, really good story now for what’s happening with Batman,” he teased, confirming that Gotham’s Dark Knight will take centre stage, joined by his son Damian Wayne, AKA Robin.
The film, directed by The Flash’s Andy Muschietti, has sparked intense speculation over Batman’s on-screen look.
Fans have debated whether he’ll sport the classic blue-and-grey suit, but Gunn insists the costume isn’t the priority.
“What matters is the character, the story,” he said, adding that he loves all versions of Batman, from the detective to the brute, and even the playful ’50s Silver Age iteration.
Jensen Ackles has hinted at interest but admits it would be tricky to put a unique stamp on such an iconic role.
Meanwhile, Titans star Alan Ritchson didn’t hold back, joking that he would slip into the Bat-suit without hesitation.

The Brave and the Bold is not linked to previous Batman films.
