James Gunn hints at Batman actor shortlist for DCU

The head of the DCU, James Gunn sat down for an interview where he hinted at his top choices to play masked vigilante, Batman.

This comes after it was confirmed by The Batman director, Matt Reeves that Robert Pattinson's iteration of Bruce Wayne is not a part of the DCU.

Speaking to The Ringer Verse, Gunn remarked, “I have guys I like. I have guys that are at the top of the list. One actor in particular… a pretty big star, wants to be Batman. We’ve talked about it, but I don’t think that’s the case.”

Fans have been speculating about who the star is, with Brandon Sklenar being one of the most guessed at choices, as Gunn had admitted to watching the actor’s series, 1923, a few times.

Despite the rumours, Reacher star Alan Ritchson is likely not who he’s referring to either, as the actor previously said about the fan cast, “Words have been exchanged about Batman. But I strongly don’t think that Batman is in my future. I do think there is something in my future with DC. And I would like that to remain true.”

Many fans think that the filmmaker will opt for a relatively unknown actor for the role, as he did for David Corenswet as Superman, which has been a raging hit.
