Cynthia Erivo addresses Dorothy's introduction in 'Wicked: For Good'

Cynthia Erivo addressed fans’ questions regarding Dorothy’s appearance in the upcoming musical film, Wicked: For Good.

In conversation with Empire, the 38-year-old actress revealed how the introduction of the ruby slipper girl will be different from that of the stage play.

She mentioned that the audience will be shown Dorothy from a distance and from the back. “I think that’s such a wonderful thing to do, because then everyone gets to keep the Dorothy that they know.”

The singer added that Glinda's attitude towards Dorothy will be a bit of an ‘eye roll' after she gives the little girl a longer route towards her home.

“She doesn’t really have time to deal with this. She could have told her to take the Emerald City train! But she didn’t,” Erivo admitted.

Notably, Wicked: For Good will bring back fan favourite actors, including Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Jonathan Bailey, and Michelle Yeoh.

The story will be a continuation of the previous instalment, following Glinda, portrayed by Ariana Grande, as the Good Witch of the Emerald City, while exploring Elphaba’s exile.

Previously, Grande has been actively teasing the release of the second instalment with Glinda-inspired pink gowns on her Instagram. She also reunited with her co-star at an event.

For the unversed, Wicked: For Good is slated to premiere on November 21, 2025.
