‘Weapons’ to get prequel film after resounding success

It has been announced that one of the most successful films of the year, Weapons, will be getting a prequel film.

With writer/director Zach Cregger making a return, it will focus on the show stealing character of Aunt Gladys.

He confirmed in a new interview, “It is real and I’ve been talking to Warner Bros. about it. There’s a story and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s not bulls***.”

Explaining that the project didn’t just stem from the success of the original, Cregger clarified, “I was ready. I had it kind of in my pocket before the movie came out.”

“When all but one child from the same classroom mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance,” reads the synopsis of Weapons, which boats a star studded cast including Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Benedict Wong and more.

Aunt Gladys played quite a big role in the movie, with it being revealed in the latter half that she was responsible for the mysterious disappearances of the children.

Played by Amy Madigan, her performance received critical and audience acclaim, so the news of the prequel has been well received.
