Jimmy Kimmel made a return to his show with an emotional monologue, but Charlie Kirk’s team wants him to apologise for his words.
After Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired its first episode following a week-long suspension on Tuesday, Sept. 23, The Charlie Kirk Show producer, Andrew Kolvet, criticised Kimmel’s opening remarks.
In his appearance on Fox News Channel’s America’s Newsroom, Kolvet suggested that Kimmel should apologise for his words.
The anchor of the show, Bill Hemmer, asked, “What was lacking, in your view?”
“Well, an apology, for one,” Kolvet replied. “Where was the ‘I'm sorry?’ Where was the contrition?”
“Yes, he was emotional, but I think he was emotional because, A, he's really good on camera,” the producer added. “And B — well, I wouldn't say really good, maybe, but he's used to it — and B, because he's been under the gun for the last couple of days. That's what he's emotional about. All he had to do was say, simply: ‘I'm sorry, I won't do it again, I will do better.’”
On Sept. 17, Disney-owned ABC pulled Kimmel’s late-night show “indefinitely” following a segment about Charlie Kirk’s Sept. 10 assassination, where the 31-year-old was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University.
