Actress Jessica Chastain disclosed turning down a role in the film American Hustle as she gave further details on the decision.
After Jessica’s dismissal, the role of Rosalyn Rosenfeld was offered to Jennifer Lawrence for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz for Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chastain said, “I declined the role since I had a previous engagement with 2014 period drama Miss Julie.”
She added, "It happens all the time and we never talk about it because you don't want the articles out there like, 'Imagine this person doing it.'”
For those unaware, Chastain had 3 back to back projects lined up for which she was doing a promotion and included the films The Forgiven and The Eyes Of Tammy Faye which premiered worldwide at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival last week. Besides, she also starred in an HBO miniseries Scenes From A Marriage.
