Ben Stiller’s comments on nepotism in Hollywood irks Twitter

Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller’s son Ben Stiller received online criticism for completely denying nepotism in Hollywood.

The 55-year-old defended upcoming short film titled The Rightaway which is directed by Stephen King’s son Owen King and Steven Spielberg’s daughter Destry Spielberg. The film will feature Sean Penn’s son Hopper Penn.

Producer Franlin Leonard tweeted, “Hollywood’s a meritocracy, right?”

Stiller replied to Leonard’s tweet, “Too easy @franklinleonard. People, working, creating. Everyone has their path. Wish them all the best.”

Stiller added, “Just speaking from experience, and I don’t know any of them, I would bet they all have faced challenges. Different than those with no access to the industry. Show biz as we all know is pretty rough, and ultimately is a meritocracy.”

Here's how Twitter users reacted to Stiller's remarks about nepotism.
