Debra Martin Chase, producer of The Princess Diaries franchise, dished out new update on third installment.
While speaking with PEOPLE at the Black Women on Broadway Awards in New York earlier this month, Chase, who produced the first two Princess Diaries movies, talked about Princess Diaries 3.
“We are more than hopeful,” said the 69-year-old.
The movie producer explained, “We are moving in that direction. We've done a lot of groundwork.”
Interestingly, Chase disclosed that they thought to start shooting this year.
“So, it's coming. We're intent upon making it happen. And we're excited that the people are excited,” she mentioned.
Chase added, “Every time something happens and we get the thing, it's like, ‘Yay, okay, keep going!'”
It is pertinent to note that Anne Hathaway is going to return as Mia Thermopolis, the high-schooler-turned-princess, who was crowned as Queen of Genovia at the end of 2004's The Princess Diaries 2.
Earlier in April, the daughter of the late Princess Diaries director Garry Marshall, Kathleen, told the same outlet, “We're working on Princess Diaries 3.
Meanwhile, she expressed excitement “to be a part of anything” related to the franchise.
