Jesse Eisenberg recently decided not to reprise his role as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning.

Aaron Sorkin, who wrote and directed the 2010’s The Social Network movie, opened up that he spent three days trying to bring Jesse back to the follow-up movie in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

“I felt like it belonged to him, and he was certainly battle-tested,” he told the outlet.

However, Aaron pointed out that he could not persuade the actor.

“He simply did not want to be conflated with Mark anymore, that he has his problems with the guy,” explained the writer-director.

Aaron mentioned that Jesse “doesn’t like kids coming up to him in airports with business cards that say ‘I’m CEO, bitch’ for him to sign”.

Last year, Jesse shared he has his own reasons for not returning to the second movie.

Although he said that his reason has nothing to do with how amazing the movie will be, really.

“But when play a character, you feel you have grown into something else,” remarked the actor while speaking on Today show.

Meanwhile, Aaron disclosed when he was writing The Social Reckoning, he ran into Jeremy Strong at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar party.

The director added that Jeremy showed interest to play the role of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz in the upcoming movie.

The Social Reckoning is slated to release in theatres on October 9.
