Katie Holmes recently reflected on her reunion with Dawson’s Creek costar Joshua Jackson for their upcoming movie, Happy Hours.
The American actress, who is going to share the screen with Jackson after almost two decades, revealed to Variety that it was “unexpected”.
Holmes noted that they both “had not worked together in 25 years, and we've changed a lot”.
Before Jackson signed on to the project, the actress, who is the writer and director of the new movie, approached the actor – her ex-boyfriend – herself for the role.
“We also wanted to give ourselves the space to show different sides of ourselves and to not portray these people we’re known for,” explained Holmes.
Elsewhere in the interview, Holmes addressed her fans’ excitement over their reunion.
“I know we were on a show that a lot of people watched, but I guess we never fully realised the impact. It still kind of throws all of us,” said the 47-year-old.
Sharing her experience working with Jackson after so many years, Holmes pointed out that it’s “like a shorthand that we quickly realise still exists”.
“We’ve always done well working off one another. He directs me and I direct him without us even mentioning it,” added the First Daughter actress.
For those unversed, Holmes and Jackson first time met nearly three decades ago on the set of Dawson’s Creek, in which they played Joey and Pacey respectively.
After the show’s premiere in 1998, the stars started dating but soon broke up the next year. However, they remained friends even after their split
Meanwhile, Happy Hours will premiere today at Tribeca Film Festival.
