Natalie Portman, Jonathan Bailey unite for intense new drama

Jonathan Bailey is teaming up with Natalie Portman for the psychological thriller Pumping Black.

Based on latest key reports, the project is directed by Mimi Cave, best known for Fresh, and is described as a dark, high intensity thriller about professional cycling.

According to Variety, the story follows an aging cyclist pushed to physical and psychological extremes as ambition, secrecy, and control begin to unravel, drawing tonal comparisons to Whiplash and Black Swan.

The film is being backed by Anton and is expected to begin production later this year, with international sales set to launch at Cannes, while producers include Stacey Sher alongside Portman’s MountainA banner.

As per the outlet, Bailey, who has recently seen a major career surge following his roles in Jurassic World Rebirth and Wicked: For Good, continues to cement his status as one of Hollywood’s leading stars.

On the other hand, Portman adds another major title to her upcoming slate following a run of critically acclaimed performances across film and television.
