Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is to begin filming soon.
Following the trailer release of season one, Philosopher’s Stone, which broke record with 277 million views in 48 hours, work on new season has officially began.
The news aligns with the network, HBO, plan to adapt all seven of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books into seven seasons.
According to Variety, Jon Brown, a writer on the first season of the adaptation, has been promoted to serve as co-showrunner on season 2.
He will be teaming up with the current showrunner Francesca Gardiner, who said in a statement, “As we have laid out our plans for the overlapping production schedules to finish Season 1 by Christmas and to return to production for Season 2 this autumn, it has become clear that bringing on a co-showrunner is the key to maintaining our momentum.”
The duo first met on set of Successions and has been working together since then.
Gardiner gushed about Brown calling him a “brilliant collaborator and a lovely person,” adding that she majorly admires him for his writing.
Brown shared his excitement adding that he is looking forward to the collaboration with Gardiner.
“It has been a joy to write on ‘Philosopher’s Stone’ and I’d like to thank Francesca and HBO for putting their faith in me to continue this remarkable journey,” he said.
The upcoming debut TV series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone is slated to release on December 25 on HBO.
