‘The Devil Wears Prada’ costume designer guesses standout style piece
Molly Rogers reveals which fashion piece she thinks is will be the talk of the town
The Devil Wears Prada 2 costume designer Molly Rogers shares her prediction over which outfit from the film might be standout for fans.
Following the buzz around iconic cerulean sweater and the Chanel boots for over two decades, the film stylist is now looking forward to see which piece has now made a statement.
In conversation with the People magazine, Rogers told the outfit that she is not super certain about there will be one standout fashion piece in this film.
She shared that since the release she has been hearing feedback about one garment a lot and thinks it could have potential, Miranda's (Meryl Streep) Dries Van Noten tassel jacket.
The stylist explained, “I feel like the audience decides what they're going to latch on to, because when we're in the fitting, we're just trying to all put together the best possible outfit for the scene that we can.”
The tassel jacket makes an appearance when Miranda is pulled into an impromptu lunch meeting with Jay (B.J. Novak) and a group of consultants. She steps into the office cafeteria for the first time ever, shocking employees with her presence.
The whole time she's wearing a light-colored jacket covered in multi-colored tassels. Streep herself loved the jacket so much that she insisted it be included in the movie.
The highly anticipated sequel made $77 million at the domestic box office and $156.6 million internationally during its first weekend.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 sees Streep return as the iconic editor-in-chief Miranda, reuniting with Hathaway's Andy, now Runway's newly appointed features editor.
They work together to get Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), Miranda's former assistant Emily, now running Dior's U.S. operations, to get on-board for ad dollars.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is running in theatre.
