B.J. Novak comments on longstanding friendship with Mindy Kaling

B.J. Novak is opening up about his decades-long friendship with Mindy Kaling, which has managed to intrigue fans throughout the years.

The Office alum, who played Ryan Howard on the sitcom, had an on-again, off-again relationship with the Ocean’s 8 actress’s character Kelly Kapoor.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor was asked about if the duo is aware of the public fascination with them.

Novak replied, “I totally know it. That’s a great example of, ‘Let them.’ They ask me about my life, I answer, and that’s the only thing they want to write a story about?”

“Let them. I’m not going to tell someone that question is off limits. Let them,” he added, refererring to The Let Them Theory, a book by Mel Robbins that teaches letting go of trying to control others.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 star has also become a member of Kaling’s family as he is godfather to one of the latter’s children, her 8-year-old daughter Katherine Swati.

Novak also attended the Late Night actress’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in February of last year with the honoree calling him a deep and caring friend.
