Joshua Jackson turns awkward moment into touching fatherhood lesson

Joshua Jackson used a clumsy red carpet situation in his advantage to create a touching insight at the New York premiere of Brunello: The Gracious Visionary.

Interviewed about the best advice his father ever gave him, the Dawson alum, whose father left his family when he was a child, laughed then answered candidly: "My father abandoned my family."

However, he shared his words, "The best piece of advice my father accidentally gave me in his absence is to be a good and present father."

The interview of the Canadian-American actor was hosted by Isaac Hindin Miller, which rapidly went viral. 

There were fans who were on both sides of the coin: some criticized the question as being insensitive, others praised Jackson on his heartfelt reaction.

One of them commented, "Damn Joshua but I love what he said in the end!"

The premiere was also a nostalgic experience as Jackson reconnects with his previous Dawson creek co-star Katie Holmes. 

The two, who briefly dated in the late 1990s, posed together on the red carpet, laughing and locking arms.

Jackson has been talking about his father being absent since time immemorial. 

In his Dinner’s On Me podcast, Jesse Tyler Ferguson claimed that he has learned to sympathize with his deceased father.

"If I ever did anything to estrange my daughter from myself, I would be bereft," he noted.

Jackson has a daughter with his ex-girlfriend Jodie Turner-Smith. 

Notably, in 2023 the couple divorced.
