Nadia Farès, the French actress most famous due to thriller The Crimson River, published in 2001, passed away on Friday.

The veteran star was discovered unconscious in a pool in a luxurious gym in Paris last week at the age of 57.

On April 11, Farès was found at the bottom of a pool in Blanche and Montmartre area.

One of the other swimmers did CPR until the emergency services came. She had gone into a cardiac arrest and had never recovered consciousness and was still in a coma when she died.

The announcement was made by her daughters, Cylia and Shana Chasman, who are known for their strong social media personalities.

"France has lost a great artist, but for us, it is above all a mother we have just lost," the statement read.

The office of prosecutor indicated that Farés was swimming laps in the pool and was caught in a yoga pose in the bottom of the pool.

In 2007, Farès had an aneurysm brain surgery and three heart operations in four years.

Previously residing in the United States, she had just returned to France to direct her first film later this year.

She has been married to American producer Steve Chasman since 2002, and parted ways four years ago.

The Storm Warning star is survived by her daughters.
