Charli XCX is officially stepping into the world of cinema, with director Daniel Goldhaber revealing how the singer secured her first significant movie role in the horror film Faces of Death.
In an exclusive interview, Goldhaber shared that the British musician took initiative by directly reaching out to him after learning about the project.
A fan of his earlier work, she expressed interest in joining the cast — ultimately landing the final unfilled role in the film.
According to People, the film, shot in 2023 before Charli’s music career reached new heights, marks a turning point as she begins to build an acting portfolio.
She plays Gabby, a content moderator with a fascination for violent online videos, appearing alongside actors like Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery.
Moreover, Goldhaber also revealed that Charli played an active role in shaping her character. From influencing Gabby’s wardrobe to making creative choices, the singer approached the role collaboratively.
Notably, performing with an American accent was entirely her own idea, adding another layer to her on-screen transformation.
