Taylor Swift publicly and fiercely slammed the Live Nation owned Ticketmaster years ago and now the case against the company has finally reached a verdict.
The Justice Department had brought the antitrust case against Live Nation in 2024, alleging that the parent company used its reach to build a monopoly in the market by blocking venues from using multiple ticket sellers and retaliating when they went against them.
Federal Jury deliberations in the trial have now ended and Live Nation has been found guilty in Manhattan, resulting in a loss for the company with claims brought on by dozens of US states.
Judge Arun Subramanian, who oversaw the Sean Diddy Combs case, also handled this one and will now hold second trial to decide what remedies are warranted.
Live Nation on the other hand has issued a statement after the act, which reads “The jury’s verdict is not the last word on this matter. Pending motions will determine whether the liability and damages rulings stand.”
The company, “will soon renew its motion for judgment as a matter of law, which the Court deferred until after the jury returned its verdict. That motion addresses all liability theories. The Court previously noted that Live Nation’s motion raises serious issues.”
Notably, Taylor had publicly criticised Ticketmaster after her fans complained that they failed to handle the demand for Eras Tour despite saying that they would be able to to the 14-time Grammy winner.
