Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson opened up about the insight and tips he received from his father to portray his uncle.
During the premiere of Michael in Berlin, Germany, Jaafar talked about the extreme length he went to surprise his family with the film.
In conversation with the Entertainment Tonight, sharing his father, Jermaine’s advice, he said, "[Father] said always that, you know, success never comes easy. And to work hard every day, especially with this role, he said to pull it off in a way that would shock people."
He went on to talk about the “two extreme lengths” of the biopic, explaining, “ I wanted to to everything, the acting, the dance moves, and to surprise my family with the element of surprise with the performance.”
Feeling confident in himself, Jaafar continued, “I think I did that.”
The upcoming biopic about his late uncle, helmed by Antonie Fuqua, will mark as his acting debut.
Aside from Jaafar, Michael also includes an all-star cast, Miles Teller as Micheal's lawyer and manager, John Branca, Colman Domingo as his father and manager, Joe, Nia Long as pop star's mother, Katherine, and Kat Graham as fellow Motown star Diana Ross.
Michael is slated for release on April 24.
