Cynthia Erivo is heading to Oxford next month, and it promises to be an unforgettable evening.

The 39-year-old actress will take part in a career-spanning conversation at the University of Oxford on May 5.

The event, titled In Conversation with Cynthia Erivo, sees her join forces with Dr. Stacy L. Smith, founder of the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative.

Notably, the organisers are calling a “unique celebration of storytelling and entertainment.”

But it’s more than just a chat as the stage sensation will also be handed the inaugural Icon Award and will unveil two new funding schemes for budding creatives.

The first, the Cynthia Erivo Scholarship, will benefit students at the USC School of Dramatic Arts.

While the second one is the Cynthia Erivo Film Bursary that will support Oxford students keen to make their mark in film.

Both initiatives are backed by Jason and Yvonne Lee, along with the USC School of Dramatic Arts and the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, with recipients set to be announced ahead of the autumn 2026 term.

The conversation will take place at the stunning Sohmen Concert Hall in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, a newly opened venue in Oxford’s Radcliffe Observatory Quarter.
