Ryan Gosling opened up about his filming experience on the set of Project Hail Mary and how his family helped him film certain scenes.
Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spaceship light year away from home with no recollection of who he is and what he is doing here.
As his memory returns he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out.
During his mission he befriends a crablike creature he names Rocky, who helps him in his task to save Earth.
The Barbie actor shared that due to his daughter’s Esmeralda, 11, and Amanda’s, 9, help he didn’t need to imagine how to interact with the friendly alien.
In conversation with the People magazine, he explained, "I had an earpiece in my ear and they would talk for Rocky, so I could talk to them as Rocky."
He said that while filming there were some moments where he was "laughing" or "charmed" by the rock, but in reality "it's actually my kids talking to me and helping me out."
The Notebook star also revealed that apart from them helping with the dialogue delivery, they also gave him tips and assisted him in feeling comfortable in his role’s academia-inspired outfits.
They also kept a keen on the small accessories, like when he was trying on different stuff that would suit his role, one of daughter came by and told him "You look smart in glasses."
He told her, "I need to look smart in this, so I will thank you for that."
However, despite the little one’s assistance their names will not in the credits. As the alien rocky is voiced by James Ortiz in the actual film and costume design for the character was handled by David Crossman and Glyn Dillion.
Project Hail Mary will release on March 20.
