Gordon Ramsay revealed the reason behind him being a better dad and a safe support system for his children.
The veteran star shares six children with Tana Ramsay - Megan, 27, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six, and Jesse, two.
Earlier, in his biography Humble Pie the 59-year-old revealed that his father was an alcoholic, violent and abusive.
Due to this Gordon had a difficult childhood, "I, sadly, had a torrid relationship with my father,” he marked, during an opening episode of his Netflix docu-series Being Gordon Ramsay.
Continuing, “My father called me a snob once. And I said, 'No, definitely not a snob. I just want to get out of the s*** mess I was born in.'"
Moreover, Gordon recounted on holidays where he watched his dad "ruin his life through alcohol".
The British chef had his career breakthrough after he opened his own restaurant in Chelsea in the late 1990s.
This notably lead to him spending more time at work while away from his host and author wife and his eldest children.
He added, "The older ones have made it clear and say, 'Can we see you more?', and, 'Dad, we miss you.' I feel I could have been there a bit more."
The Kitchen Nightmares presenter emphasised that he would make sure to be more available as he doesn’t want his children to say "You weren't there for my first day at school."
