Trump disagrees CNN staying with Warner Bros. in any Merger

Donald Trump chimed in the ongoing Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) sale, saying he is against any plan in which the company continues to own CNN.

“I think the people that have run CNN for the last, long period of time are a disgrace,” Trump told reporters. “I think it’s imperative that CNN be sold, because you certainly wouldn’t want to put people… with CNN, so that they can spend even more money spreading poison, because it’s lies. It’s a disgrace.”

Trump added that he sees “some good companies bidding on it” but emphasized that CNN should not remain under WBD’s control. 

“I wouldn’t want to see the same company end up with CNN… I think CNN should be sold because I think the people that are running CNN right now… are either corrupt or incompetent,” he said.

Under the terms of Netflix’s deal with WBD, CNN and other cable networks are set to be spun off into a separate entity, while Netflix acquires Warner Bros.’ film and TV studio, HBO, and HBO Max. 

Trump’s comments underscore the ongoing political scrutiny surrounding the high-profile media transaction, highlighting the tension between legacy news networks and corporate ownership in the evolving media landscape.
