President Donald Trump earlier attacked Jimmy Kimmel through a Truth Social post before the indefinite suspension of his late night show.

Although the 79-year-old noted about Kimmel being fired previously, Trump renewed the controversy as he took a jab at the host again.

During his appearance at the Kennedy Center Honors, the politician boasted about hosting the show and predicted it will be the “highest-rated show that they’ve ever done” on CBS.

The president predicted that despite him making history, he will be called out for doing a “terrible” job. However, he targeted the host in a comeback and admitted he “was horrible.”

Trump believes that he shouldn’t be the president “if I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent”

It is to be noted that the 58-year-old appeared on the stage of the show in 2012 to honour David Letterman.

Meanwhile, ABC confirmed that Kimmel signed a contract extension of up to a year as his previous agreement was valid till next May.

Why was Jimmy Kimmel's show suspended?

The host faced an unexpected setback after his show was suspended by ABC as his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s assassination stirred controversy amongst the republicans.

After series of protests, the suspension was reversed and the programme returned to air on September 23, 2025.
