Taylor Swift has been accused of concerning political beliefs since the release of her twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl dropped, and a new discovery about the backlash is making things worse.
The renowned singer has been called a Trump supporter as well as one of her merch items, a necklace supposed to be a nod to one of her latest songs, Opalite was linked to “SS bolts,” which is a prominent Nazi symbol.
It was swiftly removed from the website after the controversy, but no reason was given for its removal and some speculate it might have simply sold out.
In a report by the Rolling Stone, the magazine revealed that there was statistical evidence that revealed that such social media posts came from “a tiny cluster of bot-like” and “inauthentic” accounts.
The publication claimed that Taylor’s staunch supporters didn’t realise that they were fighting against a false narrative pushed by the untrustworthy accounts.
In a Reddit thread on the Fauxmoi sub reddit, internet users slammed the magazine and accused them of working with the 14-time Grammy winner herself.
“So if I ask if rolling stone is on Taylor’s payroll, I’m a bot? Sorry but I’m not buying this blatant attempt to whitewash the criticism a lot of people had for her questionable song lyrics and her silence. Bot campaigns absolutely exist but I’m gonna need more evidence to back up the claim here,” one wrote.
“Oh my god this is actual insanity her pr team payed for a “my haters are bots” article,” another wrote.
A third added, “They gave The Life of a Showgirl 5/5 stars. That tells you everything lmao,” referring to the widespread disappointment voiced by Taylor’s fan base over the album.
Notably, a majority of the Karma singer’s fans have flooded the internet saying that they were aware that the hate was forced and fake.
Taylor previously stood against Trump and his policiies, openly promoting the Democrats and their representatives.
