Kate Racker gets candid about trauma bond with Chase McWhorter

Kate Racker is opening up about the part of her life related to Chase McWhorter that viewers only got to see in different bits.

Known to fans of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives as Chase McWhorter’s on-and-off partner, the Utah-born content creator and corporate executive recruiter says her story runs far deeper than reality-TV edits suggest. 

Racker says viewers only saw the surface of her story. 

“The Utah ecosystem is very, very small,” Racker tells PEOPLE, explaining how her life, marriage and eventual divorce all unfolded within tightly connected circles.

She recalls meeting Chase, the ex-husband of Miranda McWhorter, just weeks after splitting from her own husband. 

“Chase and I started very quickly,” she says, adding that their shared emotional upheaval became a major part of their connection. 

Their relationship ultimately became her entry point into the MomTok world. “I hadn’t actually heard of ‘MomTok’ specifically until I started dating Chase.”

Racker explains she wasn’t entirely unfamiliar with the group either. 

“Jessi, I grew up with. She was my neighbor… I’ve known Jessi basically a majority of my life,” she shares. 

She also worked with Mayci’s husband, Jacob, in private equity, reinforcing how intertwined their community is.

Chase’s appearance on the show, from being Miranda’s ex to his brief tie to MomToker Layla Taylor, only underscores what Racker calls the “small dating pool” for newly divorced twenty- and thirty-somethings in Utah.
