Jane Fallon has hit out at a “disgusting” fake obituary that falsely claimed she had died, branding the hoax both cruel and completely fabricated.

The 65-year-old bestselling author, who is the long-time partner of Ricky Gervais, was left stunned after discovering the bogus death notices circulating online while she is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Taking to social media platform X, Jane initially blasted the post before deleting it, later insisting she wasn’t upset but just furious.

She wrote that she was “p***** off” by the situation and warned fans not to believe any images claiming to show her in hospital, stressing they are “100 per cent fake – AI generated.”

The disturbing hoax comes just days after Jane shared a hopeful health update following surgery.

Posting a light-hearted video with her cat, she revealed doctors had “basically got it all,” though she will need a second operation to ensure a clear margin.

Despite the setback, the author remained upbeat, joking about lifting her pet as a weight and reassuring fans the follow-up procedure is “not a worry.”

Jane also used the moment to highlight the importance of early detection, explaining her cancer was found during a routine mammogram despite having no symptoms.

Opening up further, she asked followers for advice about potential treatment with Tamoxifen, admitting she has heard the side effects “can be rough.”
