Taylor Swift is headed back to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, just days before the premiere of her highly anticipated docuseries The End of an Era.
The appearance was teased on Monday, Dec. 8, when the show’s official Instagram shared a playful video set to Swift’s hit “Opalite.”
The clip combined highlights of Colbert dancing energetically in a sparkling red, white, and blue outfit, with a throwback moment from Swift’s 2021 interview.
In that memorable segment, Swift greeted the host with a big smile and a cheerful, “Hey Stephen,” joking about the long-debated origins of her 2008 song.
“‘Hey Stephen’’s got to be about me,” Colbert teased at the time.
“No, Stephen. I first recorded that song in 2008. I think I was like 18,” Swift replied.
She then pulled out a mood board covered in Colbert’s photos, sarcastically adding, “Don't flatter yourself. 'Hey Stephen' is not about you — anymore than my album 1989 is about the year you spent waiting tables on the lunch shift at Scoozi, an Italian restaurant.”
She revealed the song’s real muse: “If you really want to know… I've never revealed this to anyone else but 'Hey Stephen' is about Stephen King.”
The segment closed with Swift receiving a call from the author, picking up the phone with another cheerful, “Hey Stephen.”
Swift’s The End of an Era premieres Dec. 12 with two episodes, followed by weekly releases, promising an intimate look at her iconic career.
