The author of It Ends With Us has commented on the ongoing legal battle between the two leads of the book’s adaptation.
The movie, which released in 2024, was followed by a series of controversies which has led to a legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
The actress, who plays the role of Lily Bloom, accused Justin, who played Lily’s love interest Ryle Kincaid, for sexual harassment.
Justin in response sued Blake for defamation which has led the two to a court battle.
Commenting on the ongoing drama, Colleen, who released the book in 2016, said that the conflict between the two is “unfortunate” and “disappointing”.
Speaking about the situation with Elle, Colleen called it a “circus”.
“When there are real people involved, with real feelings and emotions. This actually truly has impacted some of the actors’ careers in huge ways. And I just find it all around sad.”, she added.
The author herself was involved in the production of the movie as she served as the executive producer on set.
The 45-year-old admitted she is “embarrased” to say she wrote it.
“I’m almost embarrassed to say I wrote it. When people ask what I do, I’m just like, ‘I’m a writer. Please don’t ask me what I wrote.’”
However, Colleen said she was “completely unaware that anything was happening” between the two leads.
