Bad Bunny, already in the spotlight for his Super Bowl performance, has once again stolen the show.
The 31-year-old Puerto Rican superstar, real name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, ruled the Latin Grammys on Thursday night.
Notably, he took home five major awards, including the prestigious Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
Bad Bunny was overwhelmed with emotion as he thanked his family and homeland in a heartfelt speech.
“Once again, I want to thank God. And my mom for birthing me. Mom and Dad, I love y’all…
I dedicate this [award] to the young people and children of Latin America, especially those from Puerto Rico. Never stop dreaming or being yourself.”
It’s worth noting that the music sensation was a frontrunner, having scored 12 nominations this year.
Alongside Album of the Year, he claimed Best Urban/Urban Fusion Performance and Best Urban Song for DtMF, Best Reggaeton Performance for Voy A Llevarte Pa PR, and Best Urban Music Album for Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
The MONACO hitmaker’s victories set him up for the Grammy Awards in February, where he has six nominations, including record, song, and album of the year.
Apart from him, other big winners included Alejandro Sanz, who took home Record of the Year and Best Contemporary Pop Album; Gloria Estefan for Best Traditional Tropical Album; and Karol G’s Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido, which won Song of the Year.
Hip-hop duo Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso also shone, winning multiple alternative category awards.
