Sydney Sweeney scores star support from Lauren Sánchez Bezos

Sydney Sweeney might have dazzled critics, but her boxing biopic Christy barely packed the box office, pulling in a disappointing $1.3 million. 

Despite the lukewarm debut, Hollywood heavyweight Lauren Sánchez Bezos is throwing her weight behind the star.

The 55-year-old media mogul has been a close friend of Sweeney’s, having attended the star’s space-themed birthday bash in September and her wedding in June alongside husband Jeff Bezos.

Posting on Instagram Stories, Sánchez Bezos gushed: “Just watched @sydney_sweeney in @christy.movie. I have to say it's one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen. Oscar worthy performance by Sydney.” 

Notably, the film chronicles the life of boxing legend Christy Martin, played by the Euphoria star, who rose from small-town West Virginia to become an International Boxing Hall of Fame member, overcoming abuse from her husband and trainer, Jim Martin, portrayed by Ben Foster. 

Critics praised the film, and audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival even gave Sweeney a standing ovation.

Christy Martin herself joined the chorus of support on Instagram, writing: “Syd not only worked her ass off for this film, she worked her ass off for me. For my story. For so many others suffering in silence. She is my friend and ally!”

Apart from this, the Immaculate actress is currently making headlines with music mogul Scooter Braun, amid rumours of a new project collaboration, sparking intense speculation about a possible creative partnership between the actress and the hitmaker.
