Justin Baldoni has officially lost his high-profile legal war against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and The New York Times, after missing the deadline to appeal.
The 41-year-old It Ends With Us actor, along with his company Wayfarer Studios, had filed staggering countersuits totalling $650 million, claiming he’d been defamed in a Times article about alleged chaos on the movie’s set.
But according to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the final judgement has now been entered and all of Baldoni’s claims have been thrown out.
A judge had previously dismissed the case in June, ruling that Blake’s accusations of the Everwood star causing her “severe emotional distress” were part of a civil rights filing and therefore protected.
The court also found The New York Times had accurately reported on those filings and not fabricated information.
Baldoni’s claim that Ryan Reynolds falsely called him a “sexual predator” was also rejected.
The judge ruling that the remark reflected Blake’s allegations and wasn’t made with “reckless disregard for the truth.”
Following her courtroom victory, Blake, 37, took to Instagram to share a powerful message of solidarity with other women facing similar battles.
“Like so many others, I’ve felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit,” she wrote. “While the suit against me was defeated, many don’t have the resources to fight back.”
Her post included links to women’s rights organisations, as she vowed to “stand for every woman’s right to have a voice.”
