D4vd, real name David Burke, appeared before the court this week as prosecutors revealed serious charges in the murder case of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
On April 20, the 21-year-old singer showed up in court and rejected the murder allegations.
Authorities previously uncovered Hernandez’s decomposed remains in the trunk of Burke’s abandoned Tesla in September 2025.
Burke was arrested on April 16 and remains in custody after the judge denied his bail request during his arraignment at the Foltz Criminal Justice Centre in Los Angeles.
Hernandez’s family was present in court as proceedings unfolded, while Burke appeared in a holding cell.
During a press briefing, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell outlined the charges, which include first degree murder with special circumstances, alleged sexual crimes involving a minor, and mutilation of human remains.
Authorities state Hernandez was last seen at Burke’s residence in April 2025 and was not heard from again. Investigators also said she was considered a potential witness in an earlier case involving Burke.
It is alleged by prosecutors that Hernandez was murdered in April 2025, dismembered, and later hidden in bags inside the vehicle for months without discovery.
Officials also stated the alleged motive may have involved attempts to protect Burke’s career and avoid exposure.
Burke now faces life in prison or the death penalty if convicted, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 23.
