Sydney Sweeney, known for her breakout roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, is gearing up for a thrilling new chapter.

The 28-year-old actress, currently headlining for her new romance with Scooter Braun, is teaming up with Fast & Furious director Justin Lin for a bold remake of the 1964 French classic That Man From Rio.

Reportedly, she will headline and executive produce the new Apple Original Films project, a reimagined adventure comedy that promises car chases, chaos, and treasure-hunting thrills across the Amazon.

The original movie followed a French pilot on a mad dash through Brazil to save his kidnapped fiancée, but Lin’s version is expected to bring a modern, action-packed twist.

The script is by Naked Singularity writer Chase Palmer, with Lin and Kevin Walsh, a long-time fan of the original, producing under their respective banners, Perfect Storm Entertainment and The Walsh Company.

According to the insiders, both Sweeney and the 54-year-old producer were “immediately hooked” once the rights were secured.

The Immaculate actress, recently linked to Bond girl rumours, brushed off speculation, telling Variety: “I don’t know all the Bond rumours, but I’ve always loved the franchise.”

Apart from this, she will appear in Christy, a gripping biopic about boxer Christy Martin, hitting cinemas on November 7, 2025.

Notably, she hopes he film sheds light on domestic violence, calling it “personal.”

Why has Sydney Sweeney faced repeated public backlash?

Sydney Sweeney has found herself at the centre of several controversies in recent year.

In 2025, her collaboration with Dr. Squatch on a “bathwater soap” drew backlash for being objectifying and “gimmicky,” though she defended it as harmless fun and pointed out the double standards in reactions toward women.

Around the same time, her American Eagle “Great Jeans/Genes” ad campaign was criticised for allegedly echoing eugenic and racial undertones, despite the brand’s claim it was a light-hearted denim pun.
