King Charles has broken his silence after a horrific attack at a Manchester synagogue left two people dead and several others seriously injured on Thursday morning.
The tragedy unfolded on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, when a car was driven into worshippers outside the synagogue before a man carried out a stabbing.
In a personal statement, the monarch said: “My wife and I have been deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the horrific attack in Manchester, especially on such a significant day for the Jewish community. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this appalling incident, and we greatly appreciate the swift actions of the emergency services.”
According to Greater Manchester Police, officers were called to Middleton Road in Crumpsall at 9:30am.
Firearms officers responded and shot the alleged attacker. Four others remain seriously injured from both the vehicle collision and stab wounds.
