Thomas Markle has denied explosive claims made by his daughter Samantha Markle that he was “trapped” in a high-rise building in the Philippines following a 6.9-magnitude earthquake that killed at least 72 people and injured over 200.
Samantha on Tuesday posted on her private X account that her 80-year-old father, who relocated to the Philippines earlier this year, was stuck on the 19th floor of his building and unable to walk.
She even blamed her estranged sister Meghan Markle, writing: “Shame on my disgusting evil [expletive] sister forever putting our father in this position.”
But Thomas has now dismissed her claims, telling TMZ that he is “safe and comfortable” at his hotel.
“The epicentre was 100 miles from here. I’m currently sitting on the couch with my feet kicked up, watching Charlie Chan movies. I’m quite comfortable,” he said, confirming he was neither trapped nor in danger.
Despite his denial, Samantha doubled down online, insisting she had spoken to her father “several times a day” and that provisions were being made so he “won’t be trapped again.”
