Stephen Colbert seems to be the star of the show this Emmys season, as his late-night show turns all two of its nominations into wins.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert host received a standing ovation twice in the night, whenever he appeared on stage.
As the 61-year-old took the stage to present the award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series (won by Seth Rogen) he received a standing ovation.
The comedian also took it as an opportunity to get his resume out there, since his show is going off air in 2026.
Later on in the show, Stephen beat his competition as his show was announced the winner in the Outstanding Talk Series category by Bryan Cranston.
The audience at the prestigious award show began chanting "Stephen! Stephen! Stephen!” as he hit the stage for his acceptance speech.
"I want to thank CBS for giving us the privilege to be part of the late night tradition, which I hope continues long after we're no longer doing the show," Colbert began, humbly thanking the studio despite their axing of his show.
"Sometimes you only truly know how much you love something when you get a sense that you might be losing it. In September of 2025, my friends, I have never loved my country more desperately,” he added.
Notably, the 10-time Primetime Emmy winner also quoted Prince and The Revolution’s song Let’s Go Crazy at the very end of his speech.
Colbert’s show ending appears to have political undertones, but the network’s reason for the cancellation has been noted as “purely a financial decision.”
