King Charles sets engagement record despite cancer battle

King Charles has quietly marked the third anniversary of his accession to the throne by clocking in his busiest year yet, despite still battling cancer.

According to new figures from the PA News Agency, the monarch carried out engagements on 175 days over the past 12 months, a sharp rise from 133 the previous year.

That makes 2025 his most active year so far, even as he celebrated personal milestones including his 20th wedding anniversary with Queen Camilla and the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

The Court Circular, which tracks royal engagements, also confirmed the King marked his 1,000th day on the throne this year.

On top of his UK schedule, Charles clocked thousands of miles on international tours, traveling to Australia, Samoa, Canada, Poland and Italy.

In April, he made history as the first British monarch to address the Italian parliament, adding to his earlier groundbreaking speeches in France and Germany.

The King also attended Holocaust Memorial Day in Poland to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, showing no signs of slowing down despite his health challenges.

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla undertook engagements on 103 days this year, slightly fewer than the year before, when she covered additional trips while Charles was undergoing early cancer treatment.
